This place is like no other oyster bar. It’s very limited in seating. You do have to make reservations, but you will not be disappointed, The oysters are very good. There on ice in front of you as you sit down and the shrimp are as well. It’s hard to explain how they have the setup. You just have to try it.
It’s small! But its physical size does not compare to its presentation. Yes, you have to sign up to go in! Yes, it is a busy place. Your 7:30 entry time might not be till 7:40 or so, but they clean the place really good and stock it afresh in between “shifts!” The fresh shucked oysters and jumbo shrimp at bar side are amazing. Crackers galore Toppings galore. Staff is amazing as are the clientele! It just doesn’t get any better! You have an hour to eat and then you gotta get your butt out of there cause it’s the next shift’s turn! Though I’ve gone there for the oysters and my shiner bocks, I tried the caviar last time and it was exceptional. The menu looks amazing though I’ve not tried it, but from what everyone else tells me and from the way people tackle their food barside you know it’s gotta be great! If I wasn’t such an oyster freak, I’d dive into the menu. KC’s you are a Port Aransas masterpiece. And may I say to the mayor and city council of Port Aransas. In a town that is tourism centered why would you even begin to fine anyone for providing chairs outside to sit in while they wait for their turn inside? It’s tourism and people friendly! It makes sense! Hey, I’ve got an idea! Make an exception. Or change the rule/ordinance on the whole! No, I don’t live locally, I’m from that terrible city of San Antonio 169 miles up the road! But that’s gotta be the most ludicrous and ill-fitting rule I’ve ever heard of! Dumb comes to mind!
Great experience and friendly service! It’s an intimate setting but a lot of fun and the food was PHENOMENAL! Best meal I’ve had in Port A in years.
5 stars across the board. The food was absolutely amazing. Had the surf & turf, the lobster tail had an amazing Caribbean sauce that was absolutely delicious, the steak was like butter.. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the food they had and different types of shrimp & crab. The raw bar had local oysters & the biggest shrimp I’ve ever seen. It’s a small place, but very much worth the money.
If you like high-quality seafood in a phenomenally intimate setting, you cannot beat KC's Oyster Shack. Literally everything I've ever had here is amazing. The oysters & shrimp are chefs kiss. Super cool environment, they only seat 14-15 people at 4 settings each night, so they can preserve the atmosphere & quality.
Wow! What a great and unique restaurant. We had an amazing dinner and the best part is that you have oysters and shrimp waiting for you on the ice bar when you arrive. Nothing better than an appetizer waiting for you! Pair that with the good wine (we had a bottle of Prisoner) and it was the perfect dinner.
You want fresh and not fried seafood- this IS the spot! Must sign up for hour time blocks to dine, was easy to do so. I wish they had more sides to complement the awesome seafood. Oysters Rockefeller, crab cake, jumbo shrimp all delicious and THE BEST Cocktail Sauce I’ve ever had; please sell it! Make sure to get the wild rice too! You sit close to everyone dining and the servers behind the bar and the kitchen; which creates natural conversation; was refreshing! A must stop in Port A!
Truly the best kept secret in Port A - would give it 6 stars if google would let me. The setting and ambience is unlike anything else on the island. The food is 10/10 every time we go. Definitely recommend the snow crab claws, gumbo and king crab if you’re feeling fancy. There’s a wrap-around ice bar where they serve fresh oysters. The vibe is laid back and casual but the service and quality of the entire experience is spot on. Pretty soon people will be saying - “did you even go to Port A if you didn’t go to KC’s?”
